Treasure Chest Thursday — 1658 Birth of 7th Great-Grandfather John Ston in Watertown, Massachusetts

It’s Treasure Chest Thursday – an opportunity to look in my digital picture recordsdata to see what treasures I can discover for my household historical past and family tree musings.

The treasure right now is the 1658 start entry for John Stone within the Watertown, Massachusetts city and important important file e-book:

The start entry is the 1oth one down the listing for 1658 within the left-hand column:

The start file transcription for John “Ston” is:

“John Ston Sonn of Simon & Mary Stonn borne the 23 of July [1658]””

The supply quotation for this file is:

“Massachusetts, City and Important Information, 1620-1988,” listed database and digital picture, (, accessed 19 Could 2021), Watertown > Births, Marriages, Deaths, web page 42 (picture 1240 of 3991), John Ston start entry, 23 July 1658 to Simon and Mary Stonn.

That is an entry in a transcribed city file e-book for Watertown, Massachusetts, copied in 1948, so it’s a Spinoff Supply with Major Data and Direct Proof of the start of John Ston and his mother and father first names.  It was listed on as “John Donn” for some motive.

John Stone (1658-1735) was the son of Simon and Mary (Whipple) Stone of Watertown.  He married Sarah Nutting (1663-?????), daughter of John and Sarah (Eggleton) Nutting, on 16 December 1698 in Harmony, Massachusetts as her second husband.  John and Sarah (Nutting) Stone had two kids.

John and Sarah (Nutting) Stone are my seventh great-grandparents, by means of their son James Stone (1702-1783), who married  Mary Farwell (1709-1804) in 1726 in Groton, Massachusetts.
