Seavers in the News – Joseph Loren Seaver Dies in 1957 in Independence, Missouri

 It is time for one more version of “Seavers within the Information” – a weekly characteristic from the historic newspapers about individuals with the surname Seaver which can be attention-grabbing, helpful, mysterious, enjoyable, macabre, or add data to my household tree database.

This week’s entry is from The Kansas Metropolis [Mo.] Star newspaper dated 6 September 1957:

The transcription of the article is:

“SEAVER — Joseph Loren Seaver, 64, of 1419 West Quick avenue, Independence, died right now on the Independence hospital.   He was born in Milan, Ind. and had lived in Independence 10 years.  He was a member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints Stone church.  He was a retired carpenter.  He leaves his spouse, Mrs. Lena Seaver of the house; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jane Taylor, 3001 Santa Fe highway, Independence; two sons, Donald Lee Seaver, Ft. Walton Seashore, Fla., and Robert Loren Seaver, 913 South Liberty road, Independence; two brothers, William Seaver, Adrain, In poor health., and Thomas O. Seaver, Cleves, O.; two sisters, Mrs. Vena Fish, Quincy, In poor health., and Mrs. Anna Malcom, El Paso, In poor health., and 5 grandchildren.  Funeral companies shall be at 4 o’clock Sunday on the Speaks chapel, Independence.  Burial shall be in Powelton, In poor health.”

This obituary supplies the title, residence handle, dying date and place, age, birthplace, partner’s title, childrens names, siblings names, an occupation, and a spiritual affiliation.  

Joseph Loren Seaver was born 2 September 1893 in Midland Metropolis, Illinois, the son of Lemuel and Henrietta (Raney) Seaver.  He died 6 September 1957 in Independence, Missouri.  He married Lena Could Siegfreid (1897-1998) on 13 June 1914 in Illinois.  That they had 4 kids:

*  Floyd Thomas Seaver (1918-1938)
*  Betty Jane Seaver (1924-1987), married 1949 Chester George Taylor (1919-1997).
*  Donald Lee Seaver (1926-1963), married (1) Opal Louise West (1919-2000); (2) 1962 Violet Hope Carcieri (1923-1998).
*  Robert Loren Seaver (1929-1999), married 1961 Carol Mae Clemence (1926-2010)
I’m not associated to Joseph Loren Seaver to my data.  Joseph Loren Seaver is a descendant of Johannes Wilhelm Siebert and Catherine Peck of Virginia, Kentucky and Missouri.

There are over 10,000 Seaver “tales” in my household tree – and this was one in every of them.   Life occurs, by chance and deliberately, and generally an individual has all of his relations named in his obituary. I’m glad that I can honor Joseph Loren Seaver right now.
