Seavers in the News — Annie (Voll) Seaver Dies in 1960 in Hartford, Connecticut

 It is time for one more version of “Seavers within the Information” – a weekly function from the historic newspapers about individuals with the surname Seaver which might be attention-grabbing, helpful, mysterious, enjoyable, macabre, or add data to my household tree database.

This week’s entry is from the Hartford [Conn.] Courant newspaper dated 3 July 1960:

The transcription of the article is:

“Mrs. Seaver Dies; Tapestry Artist

“Mrs. Annie Voll Seaver, 95, widow of William Seaver, and an area artist, died Friday night time at a convalescent dwelling.

“She was born in Boston and lived in Hartford for about 45 years.  She was a previous president of the Daughters of the Grand Military.  She was a tapestry artist and was awarded a number of blue-ribbon prizes for her work.

“She leaves two grandsons, John Seaver of Alexandria, Va. and Robert Hallett of Hartsdale, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Miss Barbara Hallett of Worcester, Mass.; and three great-grandchildren.  Non-public funeral companies will probably be held on the Taylor and Modeen Funeral Residence, 233 Washington St.  Cremation will probably be in Springfield, Mass.  There will probably be no calling hours.”

This obituary offers the title, age, approximate loss of life date and place, partner’s title, grandchildren names, partner’s names, and a few occupation and associations data.  However no names of her youngsters for some motive.

Annie Louise Voll (1864-1960) was born in March 1964 in Boston, Massachusetts.  She married William Seaver (1861-1938) on 8 October 1884 in Boston, Massachusetts.  He was the son of John Collidge and Ann M. (Crane) Seaver.  They’d two youngsters:

*  Horace Seaver (1887-1945), married 1921 Ethel M. Van Vliet (1892-1934).
*  Ella F. Seaver (1890-1929), married 1912 Frank Howard Hallett (1887-1956).

William Seaver (1861-1938) is my seventh cousin 3 occasions eliminated.  Our widespread Seaver ancestor is Robert Seaver (1608-1683) of Roxbury, Massachusetts.

There are over 10,000 Seaver “tales” in my household tree – and this was one among them.   Life occurs, by chance and deliberately, and generally an individual’s obituary offers attention-grabbing data. I’m glad that I can honor Annie Louise (Voll) Seaver right this moment.
