Monday Genea-Pourri – Week Ending 24 May 2021

 Listed below are the highlights of my household historical past and family tree associated actions over the previous week:

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) DNA Curiosity Group Assembly in a Zoom Assembly final Wednesday with 18 attendees.  We mentioned the GEDmatch format change, the MyHeritge DNA match lists filtered by Genetic Teams, the departure of Ancestry’s Chief Science Officer, my 4th great-grandparent AncestryDNA ThruLines numbers, my “Researcher Beware” article that ThruLines could be incorrect, and my Autosomal DNA take a look at and evaluation abstract.  Within the second hour, we answered questions, successes and challenges of the attendees.

2)  Attended the San Diego Mayflower Colony assembly on Saturday in a Zoom webinar.  Richard Holledge introduced “Lets Hear It for the Mayflower Moms.”

3)  Attended at this time’s Mondays With Myrt webinar.  The panel mentioned “What would you do higher as a starting genealogist” – I stated “sourcing;”  North Carolina land grant data; Iowa adoption data; Chinese language adotions; WikiTree problem; Cousin Bait; Web Archive donations; and hybrid society conferences.

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my seventh great-grandfather #596 John Stone (1658-1735) of Groton, Massachusetts  for my 52 Ancestors submit on Friday. 

6)  AncestryDNA added 91 new DNA matches this previous week, with 0 new ThruLines, and  MyHeritage added 35 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the brand new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to 1 extra AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and identified shared ancestors.

7)  There have been a number of classes working within the RootsMagic software program program to match with and replace FamilySearch Household Tree profiles for Seaver households and my ancestral households, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I’ve matched 42,237 of my RootsMagic individuals with FamilySearch Household Tree profiles (up 185).

8)  Used Net Hints and Report Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch so as to add content material and supply citations to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 63,313 individuals in my RootsMagic file (up 189), and 137,887 supply citations (up 268).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 343 profiles, and I resolved 1,216 Ancestry Hints.I’ve fallen behind on the Ancestry Report Hints with 151,332 to be resolved, however I work on them nearly each day. 

9)  Wrote 18 Genea-Musings weblog posts final week, of which one was a press launch.  The most considered submit final week was  New Feature: Filtering DNA Matches by Genetic Groups on MyHeritage  with over 444 views.  

10)  We’re nonetheless positive right here on the Genea-cave, hunkered down and never going out a lot after Week 62 of COVID-19 isolation.  The Padres season continues, and they’re now 30-17, however we did not get to go on Saturday.  We watched the 6 video games on TV.  I went to the grocery retailer on Monday and Friday.  I went to the dentist for my bridge set up and he or she did not do it – she despatched it again for correction. We went to indoor church on Sunday and sat within the vaccinated and maskless part.  Apart from that, it was stay-at-home on the pc doing (primarily) family tree, plus consuming, sleeping, laundry, cleansing, cooking, and a little bit yard work (trimmed one rose bush).
