Monday Genea-Pourri – Week Ending 12 April 2021

 Listed here are the highlights of my household historical past and family tree associated actions over the previous week:

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Board assembly in a Zoom Assembly final Wednesday, and reported on the Analysis Group, DNA curiosity Group, and the April Publication.

2)  Wrote, edited and revealed the 13 web page subject of the CVGS “Household Historical past Gazette” e-newsletter for April 2021 

3)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) Zoom Webinar on Saturday, that includes Shannon Christmas giving two shows, “The Proof is in Proof: Use DNA to Analysis Colonial American Ancestors” and “Let The Circle Be Unbroken: Reconnect African American households with DNA.”

4)  Attended immediately’s Mondays With Myrt webinar.  The panel mentioned what we did not learn about, and the errors we made, early in our analysis, comparable to sourcing, significance of witnesses, noting all the data in a document, not utilizing a analysis log, software program limitations, and so forth.  Different matters included Crista’s Fb publish about having an error in a 2nd great-grandparents ancestry, the Wacky Wednesday census sequence, the 1950 US census launch in a 12 months, the PBS “Atlantic Crossing” sequence, MyHeritage Deep Nostalgia function, and extra.

7)  AncestryDNA added 114 new DNA matches this previous week, with 5 new ThruLines, and  MyHeritage added 21 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the brand new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to five extra AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and recognized shared ancestors, and added seven ThruLines to RootsMagic. 

8)  There have been a number of classes working within the RootsMagic software program program to match with and replace FamilySearch Household Tree profiles for Seaver households and my ancestral households, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I’ve matched 41,522 of my RootsMagic individuals with FamilySearch Household Tree profiles (up 112).

9)  Used Net Hints and Document Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch so as to add content material and supply citations to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 62,729 individuals in my RootsMagic file (up 139), and 136,104 supply citations (up 256).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 285 profiles, and I resolved 1,868 Ancestry Hints.  I’ve fallen behind on the Ancestry Document Hints with 149,531 to be resolved, however I work on them virtually each day. 

10)  Wrote 17 Genea-Musings weblog posts final week, of which three had been a press launch.  The most seen publish final week was My Sailor Father Animated in 1944 — Post 663 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday with over 455 views.  

11)  We’re nonetheless high quality right here on the Genea-cave, hunkered down and never going out a lot after Week 56 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery retailer on Monday and Friday, and it wasn’t too busy.  I went to 99 Cent Retailer, Greenback Tree and Costco through the week.  We each went to the medical middle for lab work on Wednesday.  We went masked to out of doors church on Sunday and talked to and fist bumped some buddies.  The Padres season continues, and they’re now 7-3, and we had the primary no-hitter in Padres historical past (53 seasons) on Friday. Aside from that, it was stay-at-home on the pc doing (primarily) family tree, plus consuming, sleeping, cleansing, cooking, and a little bit yard work – I received the again yard mowed after 9 months of rising weeds.
