Genealogy Pot-Pourri – Week Ending 9 August 2021

  Listed below are the highlights of my household historical past and family tree associated actions over the previous week.

1)  Hosted the Chula vista Genealogical Society Board Assembly and reported on my actions for the month.  Wrote, edited and revealed the August 2021 problem of the “Household Historical past Gazette” – the CVGS month-to-month e-newsletter.

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society DNA Curiosity Group assembly on Saturday, which featured Kathy Fernandes presenting “Shared Matching Methodology.”


3)  Participated in Mondays With Myrt in the present day and contributed little.  We mentioned the Census Genie collection, the British Newspaper Archive, my Seaver deeds in Worcester County, Mass., the Ancestry T&C problem, on-line household timber, and DNA matches.

4)  Wrote a family tree biography of #613 7th great-grandmother Susannah (Hagar) Grout (1653-1731) of Watertown, Mass. for 52 Ancestors on Friday.

6)  AncestryDNA added 67 new DNA matches this previous week, with no new ThruLines and  MyHeritage added 24 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the brand new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to five extra AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and identified shared ancestors, and added 0 ThruLines to RootsMagic.  

7)  There have been a number of periods working within the RootsMagic software program program to match with and replace FamilySearch Household Tree profiles for Seaver households and my ancestral households, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I’ve matched 43,649 of my RootsMagic individuals with FamilySearch Household Tree profiles (up 136).

8)  Used Net Hints and Document Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch so as to add content material and supply citations to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 64,782  individuals in my RootsMagic file (up 130), and 140,753 supply citations (up 352).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree two instances the previous week updating 269 profiles, and I resolved 646 Ancestry Hints.  I’ve fallen behind on the Ancestry Document Hints with 155,293 to be resolved, however I work on them virtually every day. 

9)  Wrote 17 Genea-Musings weblog posts the previous week, of which 4 had been a press launch.  The most seen publish the previous week was Ancestry.com and Your Ancestry Member Tree with over 1541 views.   

10)  I’m nonetheless high quality right here on the Genea-cave, hunkered down and never going out a lot after Week 73 of COVID-19 isolation.  Linda is at a reminiscence care and expert nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from house and I go to her for an hour daily.  The payments for the medical care proceed to return in.  The Padres season continues, and the Padres at the moment are 64-49 (3-2 the previous week).  I went to the grocery retailer on Monday and Friday. Aside from that, it was stay-at-home on the pc doing (primarily) family tree, plus consuming, sleeping, laundry, cleansing, cooking, and somewhat yard work.
