It is time for one more version of “Carringers within the Information” – a weekly function from the historic newspapers about individuals with the surname Carringer (my mom’s maiden surname) which can be attention-grabbing, helpful, mysterious, enjoyable, macabre, or add data to my household tree database.
This week’s entry is from The Report-Argus [Greenville, Penn.] newspaper dated 29 June 1917:
The transcription of this text is:
“Rev. Lloyd L. Swisher officiated on the marriage of Hazel Grace Carringer and Mr. Earl Laird Keck, son of Sylvester Keck of Greenville which passed off within the dwelling of the bride’s dad and mom, Mr. and Mrs. William Carringer, 33 Elm avenue.
“The service was learn at 8 o’clock and the attendants have been Miss Birdie Keck and Mr. Paul Wilson of Switch. Miss Keck wore white and carried a bouquet of pink candy peas. The bride wore white embroidered organdy and her flowers have been white candy peas and roses.
“The home decorations have been in pink and white, roses and orange blossoms getting used. Following the ceremony, supper was served. There have been forty friends, these from out of city attending have been Mrs. W.A. Taylor of New Citadel, Miss Lavinia Heckman, Miss Grace Heckman, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Seigle of Youngstown, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baughman and Mr. and Mrs. William Baughman of Oil Metropolis.
“After a marriage journey to Chicago, Moline, Covington, Ky., and Gary, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Keck will likely be at dwelling at 33 Elm avenue.”

This marriage article supplies the names and residences of bride and groom, and their dad and mom names, and the out of city attendees.
Earl Laird Keck (1885-1967) was born 22 January 1885 in Pennsylvania, and died 1967 in Greenville, the son of Sylvester Henry and Alice Lemira (Brown) Keck of Greenville. Hazel Grace Carringer (1888-1964) was born 18 September 1888 in Greenville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William M. and Louisa M. (Baughman) Carringer of Greenville. She died 31 July 1964 in Greenville, Pennsylvania. Earl Laird and Hazel Grace (Carringer) Keck married 28 June 1917 in Greenville, Pennsylvania. That they had one baby:

I’m a 3rd cousin twice eliminated to Bessie Louise (Carringer) Davis. Our widespread ancestors are my 4th great-grandparents Martin Carringer (1758-1835) and Maria Magdalena Hoax (1768-1851).
There are a whole lot of Carringer “tales” in my household tree – and this was one among them. Life occurs, by accident and deliberately, and generally a wedding article incorporates the names of household and associates. I’m glad that I can honor Hazel Grace Carringer at this time.
