Robert Kirby was born 10 March 1673/4 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts Bay, the youngest baby of Richard and Endurance (Gifford) Kirby[1-3].
He married in about 1700, most likely in Dartmouth, to Rebecca Potter (1681-1773), daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Stokes) Potter of Dartmouth[7].  They’d seven youngsters, all born however not recorded in Dartmouth:
*  Endurance Kirby (1700-1740), married 1722 John Lawton (1692-1753).
*  Ichabod Kirby (1705-1793), married 1733 Rachel Allen (1708-1801).

He was a Member of the Society of Associates (Quaker), and lived in that a part of Dartmouth which turned the city of Westport, close to the Coaxit, or Niquechuck, River[1].  The data of Dartmouth state that he acquired 212 acres of land in 1712 for a homestead on the east facet of the Coaxit River.  The land was subsequent to that owned by George Cadman[1].
